Audio Precision has opened its accredited calibration laboratory at the factory in Beaverton, Ore.

Audio Precision says the lab meets ISO's "general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories" as defined in ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The accrediting agency is the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. AP says its Calibration Lab offers advantages over third-party facilities.

Calibration provides verification that instruments meet or exceed published specs. The company says this gives customers greater certainty that their measurements are valid. It said accredited status means audio engineers and manufacturers can use AP instruments as part of a ISO-defined Quality System within their own companies.

Supported models of AP audio analyzers ordered after Jan. 8 that include the 2700 Series, ATS-2 and APx585 audio analyzers will be calibrated before shipping. Supported instruments in the field can be sent to the factory for calibration. Instruments sent in for warranty service within one year of purchase will be calibrated as part of the service.
