BW Broadcast, based in the United Kingdom, will be showing an analog FM tuner at the upcoming IBC show in Amsterdam, Sept. 10–15.

The RB1 and RBRX1 are single RU boxes with minimal front controls beyond a control knob. An OLED front panel displays parameters and measurements.

Control is also available via Ethernet/IP. There are more than 50 controllable parameters. Included are audio bandwidth, IF bandwidth, stereo, de-emphasis, high-frequency and ultrasonic noise blending and blending/attack release times. User presets along with factory presets are available. The RBRX1 is aimed at retransmission duties with an added DSP-controlled MPX output, RDS PI code checking and Plan B silence detection triggers added.

The company highlights the units’ “audiophile” sound quality. BW Managing Director Scott Incz said: “We love listening to analog FM but we could not find an FM tuner to match the performance of our transmitters. So we designed it.” Retail price is $1,395 for the RX1 and $1,895 for the RBRX1 in the United States.
