German manufacturer Lawo said Toronto's CHUM-FM 104.5 and CP24 Radio 1050 took delivery of a Nova73 HD router, a Nova 17 router, a zirkon radio console and 13 crystal radio consoles. Installation was completed in October.

The zirkon serves as the on-air console for the station while the 13 crystals are used for on-air studios, production rooms, vocal booths and production functions, the manufacturer stated. Audio is handled digitally via MADI while system control is managed via Internet Protocol.

Integration with CTV's other radio and TV properties was described as an important aspect of the job by Lawo.

CHUM Radio is part of CTVglobemedia, a multimedia company with ownership of the CTV network and The Globe and Mail newspaper. CHUM Radio operates 34 radio stations. Lane Steinhauer is CTV's director of broadcast engineering.
