Cliff Rogers, Right, and David Bialik
at a Recent AES Tribute to the RCA Broadcast Division
|
|
This letter is from David K. Bialik, project
manager for CBS Interactive Music Group, radio streaming operations.
R.
Clifford Rogers passed away April 30.
Many
know Cliff as a Northeast salesman for RCA Broadcast and Continental
Electronics. Cliff was someone who enjoyed his work and understood the products
he sold. He made it a point to meet and become friends with all the engineers
in the many markets.
He
tried to attend many SBE meetings and it was always enjoyable to break bread
with him as you told him what was going on; he would always suggest how he or
someone he knew could help achieve your goals, whether it involved his products
or not.
In a
time prior to Google and the Internet, he was the best search engine to get a
problem resolved. Cliff most likely sold transmitters to the majority of
Northeast radio. He retired in the 1990s to run a bed and breakfast in Schroon
Lake, N.Y.
I
met Cliff in the early ’80s when I was still a student. We became friends and
throughout my career we did business. Cliff and I organized an all-day
transmitter education seminar for the SBE in the late ’80s. Recently at the
127th AES Convention we organized the tribute to the RCA Broadcast Division.
The
broadcast community is mourning the loss of a great man; I am mourning the loss
of a good friend. My condolences to his wife and family.
