Comment Dates Set for Satellite 'Transfer of Control' Ban

The FCC has set Aug. 13 as the deadline for comments on whether language in the 1997 order authorizing satellite digital radio service that bars one satcaster from buying the other is a “binding” rule or not.

If the commission decides the ban is indeed a binding rule, it seeks comment on whether that should be waived, changed or repealed should the agency eventually decide the proposed satellite radio merger would serve the public interest.

Replies are due Aug. 27 to MB Docket 07-57.
