Commissioners have finalized the long-awaited details to the IBOC rules.

HD Radio proponents have been waiting for the details, since the commission voted as reported here to finalize the rules. They now have voted on a Second Report and Order, First Order on Reconsideration and Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The FCC now seeks comments on the 2nd R&O 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

Here's the URL to the Second Report & Order: http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-07-33A1.doc

"Mexico Says Hang on a Minute!" "Mexico wants U.S. radio regulators to re-think their decision to allow AMs to go IBOC at night and FMs to operate on the extended hybrid digital carriers. Our neighbors to the south say they are not happy the FCC authorized its recent 'final' IBOC rules governing broadcast transmissions without first coordinating those through international treaties." http://www.radioworld.com/article/6410 Just a few years ago, Mexico was complaining about the HD jammers. Let's hope that Canada, Brazil, Dominican Republic, and others continue to stay away from IBOC. Brazil already stated that they know HD Radio has been a flop in the US, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them get suckered, too. What on earth could iBiquity/Struble be telling these fools? Perhaps, this is Struble's way of forcing IBOC through International and national interference wars. These countries are also aware of the car HD Radio investigations. iBiquity may be using Free Trade Agreements to force testing of IBOC, if they are testing other digital radio systems. Then, iBiquity injects themsevles into the tests, like they did with Rhode Island Public Radio, but iBiquity was caught by a RI engineer.
