Consumer electronics specialist Grace Digital has rolled out the Tuner Wi-Fi Radio & Media Player, aiming to widen the footprint of new media services in the home entertainment environment.

Here's the pitch: "With the look and feel of a classic stereo system, Tuner streams Pandora, Sirius and even your own music collection, bringing Internet radio to your home stereo."

Beyond an FM receiver (no AM), the Tuner offers Ethernet connectivity and an 802.11 Wi-Fi transceiver for connecting to a plethora of Internet audio sources such as the Pandora music service, Clear Channel's iheartradio, podcasts or independent audio streams. It will play AIFF, AIFC, WAV, CAF, NeXT, ADTS, MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and WMA formats.

The Tuner outputs digital (via coax) and TOSLink audio and standard analog audio (via RCA connectors). It can stream audio stored on home computers. An LCD screen displays station, song and artist information when available.

The Tuner also has clock/radio functions such as and alarm function and choice of alarms. A remote control is included. Also, there's an iPhone app for remote control via the Internet from actual remote locations.

No "AM"? It needs more than just I Heart Radio because I do not want to be limited to streaming audio from Clear Channel. How about AOL Radio and ShoutCast? More variety is needed. If we did not need more variety then broadcast audio from the local stations would be enough. I guess when CBS owns four FMs and an "AM" there will not be so much variety in my area. I stream with my iPod most of the time because of too many stations in too few hands.
