California-headquartered Harman International Industries has sold its U.K. and Ireland pro audio distribution business to Sound Technology PLC.

“Sound Technology is a premier pro audio distribution business in the United Kingdom and Ireland with strong market knowledge and a commitment to selling systems across Harman’s served vertical markets,” said Blake Augsburger, Harman Professional chief executive.

“This direct-to-third-party shift provides Harman the entrepreneurial drive necessary to support its international go-to-market strategy.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Sound Technology, based in Letchworth Garden City, England, acquires exclusive distribution rights for JBL Professional, Crown, Soundcraft, AKG, dbx, BSS Audio and Lexicon products in the British Isles.

According to Sound Technology Chairman Robert Wilson, the acquisition substantially expands and diversifies the company into the markets of installation, broadcast and touring sound.
