IPod nano Gains FM Receiver

This morning, Apple announced its first iPod with an FM receiver.
The latest versions of the 8 GB and 16 GB iPod nano will include an integrated video camera, microphone and speaker, as well as one-touch uploading to YouTube.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs mentioned a built-in FM receiver and a pedometer in the quick rundown of additional features for the new nanos at the end of this morning’s "It's Only Rock 'n Roll" event.
Apple has long held off on building a radio receiver into its iPod products and currently only the new iPod nanos will have one.
No mention was made of HD Radio or RDS reception capabilities, although the press release sent after the event notes that the radio will be capable of live pause and iTunes Tagging.
The 8 GB nano is set to retail at $149; the 16 at $169. Both are available today, according to Jobs, and it is expected to compete with Flip Video camcorders. Nine colors are available: silver, black, purple, blue, green, orange, yellow, (PRODUCT) RED and pink.
Other announcements made at the event include iTunes version 9, iPhone OS 3.1 and a push for iPod touch as a gaming platform. — T. Carter Ross
