Mobile Commons Offer PRI Listeners Texting Capability

Public radio program distributor Public Radio International says listeners will soon be able to interact with its program content using a mobile text-messaging platform from Mobile Commons.
PRI EVP of Operation and Strategy Cory Zanin says Mobile Commons technology helps PRI meet the needs of listeners on their preferred platforms and will expand PRI's service by satisfying growing areas of interest.
Using a Web-based user interface, Mobile Commons will help users text and receive text messages from PRI's "The World" and "The Takeaway." Users will also be able to interact with PRI via text.
Users can text answers to questions posed on-air and online, as well as submit comments to the shows from their phones, the companies say. Listeners can also text to receive notifications of upcoming stories and various interviews of note.
PRI says its content is broadcast on 847 public radio stations and the text angle adds another way listeners can interact with its programming.
