Right out of the chute, there will be news about HD Radio from the NAB Show.

The NAB says its HD Radio Technology Advancement Task Force will make an announcement Sunday that should boost implementation of the technology by stations. It didn’t give details but the importance it places on the announcement is suggested by the participation of David Rehr, the association’s president/CEO.

Executives of several transmitter companies are going to take part including Broadcast Electronics, Continental, Harris and Nautel, as well as executives from Beasley Broadcast Group and Commonwealth Broadcasting. Caroline Beasley is chair of the HD Radio task force. Ibiquity head Bob Struble will also take part.

“A technology development project just completed by NAB's HD Radio Technology Advancement Task Force will be unveiled, involving improved and lower-cost implementations of HD Radio equipment for broadcasters,” NAB stated.
