Revo Technologies Ltd. launched the BLIK RadioStation, a “hybrid” digital radio.

The company, based in Scotland, said the introduction is important because this is the first product that combines a DAB/DAB+ digital radio, Wi-Fi Internet radio and traditional FM radio in one.

“BLIK RadioStation is also significant for being the first commercially available radio that provides plug-and-play reception of both existing DAB and new DAB+ broadcasts,” it stated.

The product is the result of a collaboration with Frontier Silicon; it uses Frontier’s new multi-standard Venice 6 module.

Revo is also offering two other models in the BLIK line, a DAB/FM version, and a Wi-Fi Internet radio/FM model. Radios are designed in the U.K. and assembled in Asia.

The company said some 5 million DAB receivers overall have been sold in the past four years in the United Kingdom.
