Sonodyne is a manufacturer that has been making speakers since the late 1960s, according to a release. The reason it may not be a familiar name to all knowledgeable audiophiles is that it has been most active in the Indian market. But now Sonodyne has a U.S. distributor, TransAudio Group, and a speaker to show to the American buyer.

The SM200AK is a biamplified powered speaker near-field with an 8-inch Kevlar woofer and 1-inch metal dome tweeter. The power comes from 150 W and 100 W Class A/B amplifiers inside the metal and wood cabinet. The front baffle is aluminum while the wood cabinet walls are said to be non-parallel.

Onboard EQ consists of bass and treble controls. Sonodyne specs the SM200AK at 40 Hz–20 kHz. Size: 12.4 inches x 16.9 inches x 12.7 inches. Price: $1,790 per pair.
