Tampa Bay’s WWBA Goes Mobile

Tampa Bay area news/talk station WWBA has signed up with the AudioNow mobile service to deliver live audio feeds to local listeners via their mobile phones.

AudioNow says its service requires no downloads, Internet connections or special hardware. Nor does it require a special phone. Interested listeners just dial a number — effectively making a phone call — and are connected to the feed.

CEO Bruce Maduri of station owner Genesis Communications stated: “News Talk 820 is always looking for ways to reach our listeners in a mobile world by making it easier to tune in their favorite shows, at any time.” He said this move lets his listeners stay connected with the station on any phone.

WWBA also maintains MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Digg and YouTube presences.

AudioNow Managing Director Elan Butinger said: “Listening to radio on mobile phones needs to be as simple and reliable as turning on a radio and that is what distinguishes our technology from the rest of the industry.”
