THX, Neural Combine Surround Efforts

THX Ltd. and Neural Audio are pooling efforts to develop and market surround sound technology to the content creation community and consumer electronics manufacturers.
Neural said it will work with THX to develop its next-generation surround product suite. The goal is to allow CE devices, broadcasters, video game developers and content distributors to deliver multi-channel surround using existing stereo channels.
The THX-Neural branded technology will first appear in AV receivers by Sony, Pioneer, Yamaha and Onkyo. Prototypes were shown this week at CES.
