Internet audio aggregator TuneIn and Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio are early providers of Windows 8-compatible apps for their respective services.

A TuneIn release noted that it used the new OS launch as a chance to redesign the app and take advantage of the different look of Windows 8.

TuneIn Director of Product Kristin George stated in the announcement, “The Windows 8 operating system has helped us reimagine the TuneIn experience for an environment where simplicity and quickly getting what you want are at the forefront.”

She said that Windows 8 provided TuneIn with a “canvas to create a beautiful interface that works with keyboard, mouse and touch” and also helped showcase how TuneIn can deliver listeners’ chosen stations by providing the ability to pin them to their Start screen.

Both apps are free at the Windows Store.

In other news for iHeartRadio iPhone app users, a sleep timer function has been added. It can handle turning the app off up to three hours later.
