Cherry Creek Radio, like many broadcast groups, has placed its EAS orders and is awaiting delivery.

Travis Cronen tells me the 60-station owner has placed the order for the necessary gear and is expecting it soon. A few of its locations have already been updated.

EAS decisions at the company are made by Ken Eklund, the director of engineering, and by Cronen, the director of operations & IT. The company has standardized on Sage gear and purchased 20 units this year from SCMS.

The company owns stations in Montana (Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula, Sidney); Colorado (La Junta, Lamar, Montrose); California (Lake Tahoe, Campo/San Diego); Utah (St. George, Cedar City); Arizona (Sierra Vista); Texas (Stephenville, Comanche); Washington (Tri Cities, Wenatchee); and North Dakota (Williston).

Any special considerations or problems upgrading the EAS infrastructure?

“Network routing and port forwarding through firewalls,” Cronen said. “Nothing major.”
