Brand, Agency Execs to Discuss Urban Radio Advertising

9.12.2008

The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters and Interep's Power of Urban Radio will host a session titled "Dialogue with the Advertising Industry" as part of NABOB's Fall Broadcast Management Conference.

It's at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Washington. The NABOB Fall Management Meeting will take place Sept. 24-26, during Congressional Black Caucus Week.

The panels will include brand and ad agency executives discussing issues of importance to urban radio ad sales, including urban radio's role in reaching the $744 billion African American consumer marketplace, and the state of African American marketing.

Interep coordinated the panels; it has been organizing the Power of Urban Radio event for more than a decade.

The opening panel will include agency execs reviewing their strategies in helping clients achieve objectives and how urban radio is a vital component. This will feature Cliff Franklin of Fuse Advertising (Anheuser Busch, Obama 2008); Shawn Marshall of Global Hue Advertising (Chrysler, Wal-Mart, Verizon); Bob McNeil of Images USA (Wachovia, Amtrak); Chuck Morrison of Uniworld Group (Ford, Kraft Foods, Burger King); and Bob Wingo of Sanders Wingo (Chevrolet, AT&T, State Farm Insurance). KJLH(FM), Los Angeles VP/GM Karen Slade will moderate.

Then panel of brand marketing executives will take part in a discussion on their marketing and media goals and how urban radio will be used. The panel includes Gwen Kelly of Wal-Mart; Lynn Bonner of Harley Davidson; Toure Claiborne of Allstate Insurance; and Mark Prince of Professional Partnering Solutions. Target Market News publisher Ken Smikle will moderate.
